Red River Stone
Red River Stones are
found in the Red River of Guangxi province, China. The stones
simply got their name from the location where they were found.
Red River stones are primarily composed of quartz. The
surfaces of the stones are generally smooth, hard, and sometimes
shiny. Very shiny and colorful Red River stones are called
Ceramic Stone. Some of the other stones have the
characteristic look of pebbles or heavily eroded with pitted
surfaces. The colors of brown, red brown, gray, black,
yellowish brown, sometimes accompanied with brown or black veins can
be found among the Red River Stones. Red River stones are not
available in large quantities. From the geological studies Red
River Stones are known to be about 200 million years old.
During all those millions of years, the stones have been
continuously shaped by natural forces.
