Black Ying Stone

Black Ying Stones are found in Guangxi province, China.  The colors of the stones are mainly black as the name implies and sometimes accompanied with white calcite inclusions or white buff.  The surfaces of the stones are generally smooth, hard and often glossy.  The characteristics of perforations, wrinkles, sharp outward projections and shallow crevices can be found among these stones.  The shapes of Black Ying stones often resemble landscapes or objects.  Black Ying stone possesses an ideal color for those suiseki enthusiasts who are seeking for black stones.  Black Ying stone is first known to be shaped in the river area and have gone through many geological events and natural forces for several millions of years before they were found in the mountain areas. back to the top
