Chi Lin (Kei Loon,
Chinese Unicorn)
The Chi Lin, known as the Chinese
Unicorn or the Dragon Horse, is a very popular Chinese mythical
creature. The Chi Lin's body is generally depicted with a
combination of a body of a deer, scales of a fish, cloven toes
similar to those of a horse, and a furry horn (different
variations of the Chi Lin can have one, two, or even three horns.)
According to the legend, the Chi Lin used to guard the gates of
heaven; thus it generally symbolizes protection and guardianship
of home and family. Furthermore, the Chi Lin is portrayed as
an auspicious symbol of good luck, wisdom, good will, prosperous
descendants, longevity, wealth, and career advance. The Chi
Lin is also known as Kei Loon or Qi Lin.
